SRA MAY started as a side project to generate income for Cambodian women in 2013.
Now, several years later, we developed into a lifestyle brand and label.
We produce high quality, hand made products, of which no two are the same. We embrace these differences because we believe that’s what life is about. We don’t focus on mass production but we rather pursue beauty in the quality of materials and in the personalities of the women who contribute to the creative process. All of them produce the SRA MAY pattern in their own unique way. Today SRA MAY provides income for home-based families and women in the sewing program as well as being led completely by our local team and working with local partners for the production of our beautiful handcrafted products.
SRA MAY is focused on the empowerment of women and initially started at an educational center (the Pure Dream Centre) in Siem Reap, Cambodia.
SRA MAY started as a side project to generate income for the women of the community and to help them to become more self-reliant. A shop in the middle of Kandal Village (Siem Reap) a webshop and a bike tour program through the heart of rural Cambodia are among the activities SRA MAY has initiated today!
SRA MAY, which means to dream/ to imagine in Khmer, the official language in Cambodia.
Inspired by my curiousity I have been involved already 12 years in local projects in Cambodia. Loving the Cambodian ‘same same but different’ mentality I developed a heart for the local people, their culture and way of living where I besides learned a lot. Always striving to connect people and make an impact on personal development I’m proud on the way we nowadays working together. Even as it is on a distance most of the time, I feel the commitment among each other to create, to inspire, to enjoy and to let each one of us grow.
As head of income generating Andréa stands for women empowerment. Personally she tries to embrace life in general and help those around her to realize their full potential. Being involved in SRA MAY she looks at the production process as one that comes from the hearth. With every new idea, every needle that goes into the fabric and every woven thread a step is taken to make the world a slightly better place. And for me that’s what makes the world go round.
We believe in making great products and that’s not changing. We have a constant focus on taking the next step and we are innovating the process where possible. We believe that beauty lies in the simple things and that we participate only in markets where we can make a significant contribution. At SRA MAY we are all working with love and with dreams like the name of our shop.
Her vision for the SRA MAY product is to become more widely known inside and outside Cambodia. Silo feels she’s working in a warm and friendly organization where she can learn every day and improve her skills.
The sewing ladies love to sew. They’re working for SRA MAY to gain new experiences and love the way the staff is all working together, whether upper or lower level. They are looking forward to create new and beautiful products with high quality standards and above all to do what they love the most.
